Frans joined Shell after graduation at Leiden University in The Netherlands on Low Temperature Physics. Held various positions as a Petroleum Engineer in research and field management in Netherlands, Thailand and Malaysia. Led asset teams in field development planning and production optimisation.
He is currently working in Shell’s global Smart Fields programme. Focusing on Production Optimisation and Well and Reservoir Management and streamlining its processes. Programme leader of the Smart Fields Foundation, implementing a standard suite of processes, architecture and applications in assets globally for production monitoring, allocation, optimisation and forecasting.
Frans has given various presentations on Shell’s Smart Fields programme and its business value. He was a member of the Programme Committee for SPE Intelligent Energy Conference in 2008 and 2010. He supports the global PRODML standardisation effort and is a member of its DOFF leaders group.
